Privacy policy

Draft for the beta. This text has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and will change before public launch.

What we collect

Children

Applicants under 16 can only be added by a parent or guardian from the parent's account; they cannot sign up themselves. This is how we follow the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR (Article 8), and China's Personal Information Protection Law rules for minors.

How we use it

Only to build and show your school lists, to fix wrong school data you report, and to keep the service running. We do not sell your data and we show no ads.

Plain-language reasons are written by Anthropic's Claude model. It receives the rule results for your profile and the published school data, never your email or nickname.

Where it is stored

In a Supabase database in the United States (us-east-1). The website runs on Vercel and background jobs on Railway.

Deleting your data

A parent can delete a child at any time from the family page. This removes the child's profiles and reports for good. Admission outcomes you reported are kept only as anonymous statistics (stage, school, result, year) with every link to you removed, so we can check our rules in later years.

To delete your whole account, email nickchen@luminaryedu.com. Automatic deletion of inactive accounts is planned; the period is not decided yet.

Cookies

Only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. No tracking or advertising cookies.
